Jake Andrews, a native of Austin, Texas (born April 16, 1980), is a renowned blues-rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter who has been enthralling audiences since childhood. Taught by his late father, John “Toad” Andrews of the 1960s roots band Mother Earth, Jake picked up the guitar at age 5. By eight, he was sharing the stage and trading licks with legends such as Albert King, B.B. King, Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, Otis Rush, and Jimmie Vaughan—often at Antone’s, the storied Austin club.
By his mid-teens, Jake was making waves in prestigious venues like B.B. King’s in Memphis and Los Angeles, Slim’s in San Francisco, and at festivals including the San Francisco Blues Festival and the Madison Blues Festival with Ray Charles. He has been featured on CBS, Austin City Limits, Texas Monthly, Guitar Player, and Vintage Guitar
At 17, he signed with Jericho Records (a Warner Bros/Sire imprint) and released his debut album Time to Burn(1999), produced by John Porter. The album produced a Top‑Ten rock single and earned Jake the “Breakout Rock Group” award from Radio & Records. He toured nationally with acts like the Allman Brothers, Doobie Brothers, Susan Tedeschi, Boz Scaggs, and George Thorogood.
His discography includes:
- Time to Burn (1999)
- Jake Andrews (self-titled, 2002; produced by Carla Olson)
- Feelin’ Good Again (2007)
- EP Livin’ in the Grave (2011)
- In the Shadows (2017)
- Latest: Train Back Home (2023), an instrumental, live-in-the-studio guitar album produced by Carla Olson featuring top-tier musicians. It debuted at #11 on the Billboard Blues Chart and earned him a spot at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2023.
